Dice and dice games goes all the way back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is only about one hundred years old. Current craps evolved from the 12th Century English game referred to as Hazard. No one absolutely knows the ancestry of the game, however Hazard is said to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the twelfth century. It is theorized that Sir William’s horsemen gambled on Hazard through a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was derived from the citadel’s name.
Early French colonists brought the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 1700s, when expelled by the British, the French headed south and located sanctuary in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they brought their best-loved game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it fair mathematically.
